FOUNDATION HEROES
Jim Stynes was a hero in the truest sense of the word.
His personal achievements were many and he left an indelible imprint on the Melbourne Football Club that will last forever. He was and always will be a Demon hero.
Perhaps his proudest achievement came in 2008, when he stood in front of a group of Melbourne supporters and called upon them to ‘save the club’ on a night we affectionately labelled the ‘Debt Demolition.’ 5 million dollars was to be raised to wipe club debt and begin the movement towards success and the formation of the Foundation Heroes.
Since that night the Foundation Heroes have gone on to be the most successful supporter group in the AFL, with over 580 donors pledging a minimum of $5,000 each to support the future of the Club.
A group of passionate Melbourne supporters, spurred on by Jim Stynes to continually stand by the club they love, the Foundation Heroes laid the foundation for our players and coaches to claim the ultimate success the club strived for, with the achievement of an AFL premiership in 2021 and AFLW and VFL Premierships in 2022.
Foundation Heroes continue to actively grow in members and donations, understanding the importance their contribution plays in ensuring the Club can continue to invest in providing the best environment for the team to thrive on and off the field.
How to become a Foundation Hero
To become one of this elite group, we ask for a minimum $5000 donation, and welcome any additional donations as you see fit.
Some members have achieved silver, gold or platinum status in our Foundation Legends initiative. Once a combined donation amount is reached, donors are elevated into Foundation Legends, who are entitled to an additional range of exclusive opportunities and recognition.
Donations are fully tax deductible when paid to the Australian Sports Foundation via the Red and Blue Foundation.

A wide range of exclusive recognition, including: honour board, website listing, exclusive events as well as an individually numbered Foundation Heroes certificate and lapel pin.

The Red & Blue Foundation has registered the Foundation Heroes & Legends program with the Australian Sports Foundation. It encapsulates two key areas that donations contribute to in order to help the club achieve its future strategic objectives in the following areas:
Club Facilities
The Club is focused on the development of high-performance facilities and club infrastructure to provide profile, presence and stability for the long-term future of the Club. This includes the establishment of a home facility that will make our people feel proud and unite our administration and football departments into the one facility for the first time in recent history. We will also continue to develop Casey Fields as our secondary high-performance facility.
High Performance Football Programs
The ability to provide players and staff with the programs and resources required to maximise their potential is a fundamental objective for any club. We operate in a fast-paced, competitive industry, which drives innovation in athlete management, preparation, coaching and strength & conditioning. With recent success across our AFL (2021 premiership), AFLW (2022 premiership) and VFL (2022 premiership) programs, the Club’s ongoing investment in this area is critical to the future of the Club performing at its peak.
Donations are fully tax deductible and each donation will play a vital role in ensuring the development of these critical areas.
By contributing to the Red and Blue Foundation, you are helping the Melbourne Football Cub achieve its objectives and in doing so field and develop a strong, competitive team on and off the field. In addition to providing tax deductibility, all Melbourne Football Club disbursement is fully endorsed by both the ASF and the Red & Blue Foundation, providing assurance for the donor.
